It's Still Really Hard to Act on a Good Idea
Hello! It's been a little while since I've *a'hem* blogged on Original Archiving. I apologize to those of you who check in regularly or have wondered where I disappeared to. Original Archiving is a labor of love so when the summer sun came out, it definitely took a backseat to city exploring, friend time, freelance work, doctor appointments, and summer travel. But, you know you can always read my daily column on Design Mom. I've been writing about sleep masks, the "in-between time" before you make a big change, and Salvador Dali. Really. It's so much fun. I really hope you'll follow my daily discovery posts there. I love your comments and feedback. They mean the world to me. If you have a product, feature idea, or anything else you'd like to share with me, contact me here. I love hearing from you. If you'd like to be alerted about each new post, I share the posts via Twitter and Facebook almost every day.
One last thing. You may remember me writing a couple posts about how hard it is to act on a good idea and a little bit about creative process here. I have been busy working away on a very exciting project I'll announce soon, but honestly, so completely torn and terrified at the thought of it being anywhere but in it's safe little Wordpress Drafts file. I recently told a friend I admire a lot that the only way I'm ever able to make or do anything is to tell myself, Be Not Perfect. Her wise advice to me: Have the grace to let yourself be. I loved that. I also love the little voice in my head that tells me to kick it in the pants and No, You don't need to watch another episode of Pretty Little Liars— you need to write or you won't be happy. (Yes, still eat that gigantic bowl of Rocky Road.) So somewhere between grace and bum kicking and a giant bowl of ice cream, is a pregnant girl sitting at an Ikea desk at half past seven, writing and thinking and hoping against hope for her big idea. *Fist pump, tiny jig, deep breath*
Do you have a big idea, too? Or hopes and dreams for your current project or job? It's simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting. I'd love to hear your advice on how to pump myself up for the day-to-day total doubt/awesome confidence game. :)
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
